Hi all friends and familly!
Back on the main land after a wonderfull time up on Elcho Island...Arnhem land.
Arrived there to be met by ..... my boss for 2 weeks,George, from Lancashire and whom i think is 50ish , a wonderfull man who has worked on and with Aboriginal communities for many many years.
George, gave me my "what to do" job duties and basically left me to it, a 4 wheel pick up truck to get me about and a "offsider" (mate) called BRENDAN......thats where the "the strangeness" starts.....and wonderfull it was too......let me begin.
Brendan Gurruwiwi ,is a 25yr old Yolngu (clan) and nephew of "THE" DJALU GURRUWIWI Mr Yidaki (didge) himself, so Brendan instantly said to me , now this is prior to even saying hello really, "you are now called BARRA GURRUWIWI, the West wind and you are my Brother" Aboriginal way is to Adopt into a familly...SO now self is a relation to Brendan all his familly and DJALU....YOLNGU .... BUTTERFLY....WITH WIDITJ (OLIVE Python dreaming).
Brendan told me we must go and meet his grandfather "Samuel Badikupa Gurruwiwi" the elder here and the Didge maker extrordinaire, so of we head down to see him, arrive at house and was invityed in.......only to be absolutely blown away by 7 or so 6foot perfect tapered and most exuisitely painted Didges...."play" he said...albeit he had no idea i did and what else? HE SAID MY NAME...BARRA....now NO one i mean NO one else told him, it was immposible for him to know.......SO I DID.
I picked up a Black one with a WIDITJ painted all way down the stick, so so gorgeously painted, and WOW... it played so so well but the Vibration was so SO LOW and powerfull.
Samuel started to hum a song and sing brendan to did some strange moves and chanting...thats it.....time for LESSON NUMBER 1, Just the start of my Apprenticeship.
Samuel asked me to accompany him to the "bhungul" a funeral ceremony, as to which i was absolutely honoured and blown away by his offer, so off we went, Samuel, Brendan, and me..barra....AND we all GURRUWIWIS.
I sat down and listened, watched and learned....and elder called Ralph started talking to me and over the next 3 days of the ceremony he taught me what he could and was aloud under their law....and the Teachings? they are here NOW with YOU and I ..every DAY...listen!
That day i met loads of kids and had some great fun playing games and generally doin just nonsense, however, there was this wee fella whom i called "romeo" due to the fact that all he talked about was kissing girls, and he was only 11...so..i took a stone and put behind my back put in a hand then put my hands out in front for hiom to guess which hand....you know the one eh.?... he got evey one CORRECT..20 TIMES I DID AND A 100%....LUCK? naaaaah!
I was asked to come and meet DJALU as he wanted to see the Man from Scotland etc walked down the dirt road, but this day self walked without even moving...more a float..its like...well you know what you would feel like meeting your...favourite popstar maybe or Hero?
I stood in front of him and he said very few words...but what he said was just the "ticket" he instructed me to sit and LISTEN.......I DID....WE SAT FOR 9 HOURS and AND AND. massive smiles....and thanking spirit... MINEmUK ("ALL is good" yolngu matha tongue)
Elcho is a wondefull place...the beaches are long with never any one on..the sea is full of fish and Azure Blue ....and according to a GREAT new BROTHER i have got called DAVE , and whom took me fishing most mornings, albeit at 5am, however the scenery and sun rises were NOT OF THIS WORLD REALLY colours and shapes and EAGLES etc
he said it is the BEST FISHING IN THE WORLD.....probably true as i have seen and experienced it.
I made and met really wonderfull people there, George whom i will never forget for his humour albeit he his so so wise and focussed,and thank you brother for the tent you gave me , it will be so so usefull, not only that ..JUST A MASSIVE THANK YOU..YOU TRULY ARE A MAN OF THIS EARTH..A GREAT TEACHER. Also To Troy and his wife Michelle, whom has THE BIGGEST 4 X 4 v8 CHEVROLET monster truck i ever seen...they both made me so so welcome and gave me such wonderfull teachings and love all as it should be, You both have truly that special gift that makes people feel so welcome and in sharing what you have....THANK YOU BOTH for your wonderfull teachings too, You BOTH will be with me on the rest of my travels ALSO, we have connected and understand ..... thank you and keep today and all the days as real as they are .
Elcho island is a wonderfull place, the people too give and share what they can when they can, however , you can see and get told about the "the white fella" and how over many decades has in a way, made things a lot LOT worse....now time to reverse...BUT TO THE WAY OF GEORGE AND TROY...... SMALL STEPS.

CYCLONE PAST AND AT FARM.
Hi, i hope no one was worried to much, however the Cyclone came and Boy was it scary....Lay in my bed with winds a blowing arround 90mph and Rain so so hard that it would have ripped the skin off you....ALL NIGHT.
Any ways..arrived at Butterfly farm....truly an VERY VERY special place, and now really thinking that I am MEANT TO BE HERE....Chris who is from The Lake district and stayed in Inverness for several years , stayed with various Monks etc etc and has done considerable travelling over the years started this place in 1990, and has worked constantly at it albeit with help of people and Locals..(batchellor about a mile away has 200 pop) he has basically built a place of relaxation and conection.....sometimes he gets indiginous people in here to connect with the ancients as it sits Geologically on some very special minerals which are only found in this area...etc...so yes...all IS well, with every day that passes, this place becomes more of a place of sanctuary,filled with peace love and such wonderfull feelings.
Chris and Laura are building 4 new accomodation blocks and i am now HEAD Carpenter..laughing.....albeit every thing is done in steel for the TERMITES..!
And here is me vowing not to do any Building.....that INTERVENTION AGAIN...THANK YOU!
Yeh all power went down for 2 days AFTER cyclone, and phone lines too....TREES outside were blown and lifted right out of ground , so it was major clean up time , worked with cham saw until late into night...then BEER TIME......!
Got a free trip to a national park for day As i cooked Breakfast for a Group of young travellers whom were on a Tour to a place called Litchfield National Park....I was first up ans the young travellers arrived here expecting their GRUB....SO..No one up except mois....what do you do?? And with that got rewarded to a freebie, full works trip.....woo hoo ! Never seen anything like it...water falls that only you can imagine really...trully wonderfull, the land just goes on and on and the sky recently has been full of the most amazing systems and shooting stars, nothing like i have ever experienced.......however..DOWN TURN.....THE MOSSIES are really eating me alive....at mo my arms and legs are like the surface of an Apple crumble......as i smack another one......ouch and buggering things.....ho hum.
Meetin some wonderfull people here, and learning new things every day. People putting me in touch with others for future..months ahead in New Zealand etc etc.....ok folks..you know i am ok...I MISSIN YOU ALL AS ALWAYS.......SLEEP WELL...AWAKE WITH A SMILE...AND GIVE THANKS.....THANK YOU .XXXX talk soon.

CYCLONE HEADING THIS WAY.
Hi all friends and familly, yup there is a CYCLONE comin this way...HELP!
The weather is a bit like..STRANGE..to say the least?? It rains so SO hard for a short period ..but i mean...RAIN..Torential...then stops in an instant and ev thing dry in 15 mins or so...and this can happen about 10 times a day?
The people have been so friendly towards me....everything is "NO WORRIES" and Take it easy too..a lovely approach to work and with all the respect towards each other.
Met this guy called Scotty, he was a pro Rugby player, and is up here looking for work, as Darwin is going to like TREBLE in size over the next few years, and as same over at home, a massive shortage of skilled and semi skilled labour, and well, needing the WORKFORCE....! Also a Young couple from LEEDS whom been here since October, whom are heading down to PERTH next week to work as a Concrete layer...we swapped numbers so as we can touch base, when i head down there...and who knows??
Yeh, off to the Farm to work today, which i am extremely looking forward to, Going to be an experience and a half for sure....will take lots of photos...! however it can be a bit of a night mare loading photos at times....as it takes so long and that MEANS DOLLARS...going going gone......! however will Try to find a quicker way eh.
I heard its SNOWING?? NOT HERE......! smiles.
ALSO....met up with a French ..pro Didge player called GAULTIER, and boy can he play, Totall different style, very much BEAT BOX , and so so different to anything i ever heard before....great stuff.

HAPPY NEW YEAR...!
Good day, fit like, and falaming Gillars!
Happy new year to all you wonderfull people!
Well....went vout on Hogmany night to bar called "wisdom" bar....yeh, pretty much that, walked in , well walked in but never had a roof etc all open air, and very busy, starnge but was like walking back about 20 years or so....the music the dress sense etc etc....and.....some wee midgets walking about dressed up as Roman soldiers.....teachings there ....mmmmh ponder...however hung about and was approached by a man and his wife ..with the ubiquitous "HOWS IT GOING?"...yeh...fit like too....! They were about my age..(old person) and the woman was originally from BALLOCH...so wee had common ground right away.....FANTASTICO!
A band from Melbourne came on....a 3 piece group and played for 3 hours....totally Rocked, so danced and had some more "TRUE BLOND" SORRY thats the name of the beer...nice light and easy to go down......yum yum! 6 AM i toddled off to bed , and awoke at 10...feeling Brand new and ready for the 37 degs heat with 90 perc himidity.!
Went for a walk, and met a couple whom are on a cruise..THEY WERE FROM EDINBURGH!
Was playin didge in a park and they took some video of self and didge etc ...good fun for all...big laugh!
Sat up last night speaking to some folk here in hostel...i.e whats best to get down south...work for keep etc etc....a lovely young couple from Cornwall whom been here in OZ since oct ...so yeh they shared a few beers with me and we talked about..Aboriginal ways and wisdom...only to come to the point that a lot Really have major problems...i maean a lot..with Alcohol....however...a great deal still use the ways of the Ancients...i.e One guy only last week sat down and asked for a cigarrete ...as they do...or a buck....however this guy sat down next the guy Dave...asked for a cigarrete, he then instantly told Dave..whom by the way does not wear glasses.....says......" you short sited mate..gettin worse..and you havin problem with your touch in left hand/......ALLL CORRECT!.....Dave was astounded!
Yeh i really do feel that these amazing people , as read in some books etc...have other gifts...and senses that...perhaps a lot still use and have....again the gene pool and introduction of US....has a lot to answer for too!...but you cannot lie to them....you feel they can see right into you!
Also last night....met an elederly couple from California...they been travelling all their lives......and boy oh boy....they Know exactly, the way of the peacefull warrior! Took out my i pod player and wee speaker set....played some real 60s So Cal music for them, had a ball too....Certainly this is trip of Teachings...seems at mo every day...is a wondefull day ...full of amazing stories and Lovely people....this IS THE WORLD.....FULL OF AMAZING TEACHINGS AND WONDERFULL PEOPLE...ITS THE HIGHER UP PEOPLE...i.e..POLITICIANS etc THEY THE SCREW BALLS!
Some friends have offered self a lift right down to Adelaide today..but i still got to MEET THE REAL PEOPLE NEXT WEEK!
Just got off phone to see about some WORK FOR KEEP...and ....well...got this job on a BUTTERFLY farm about 200 miles from here at a town called BATCHELLOR, which is next to one of the national parks..litchfield, so yeh the woman asked what i did in Aberdeen and told her that i was a builder..."oh great" she said, as they extending the place at mo too...so divine intervention...mmmh ponder away..you must!
On beach today with didge and again NO one there.....except for a load of HERMIT Crabs...pretty weird wee things ..absolutely fun to watch.
Went to my mate Darwin DAVE, whom owns the Didge shop, and this guy came in called Gaultier, a FRENCH guy whom has some ABSO brilliant didge CDs out , he plays PRO DIDGE, but in very different way to that i have ever heard before...its a beat box style, very strange and GREAT to here...hes played with XAVIER RUDD and many other top artists, AND NOWWWWW, HES played with "MOIS" EXCELLENTY...(laffin) meeting again tomoro to Jam again..so will have some photos.....woo hoo!
Well my gorgeous friends and familly...off out to buy a plug so as to swap my chatger one to OZ style....and have a cup of ICE COLD PEACH TEA.....!YUM YUM.
